Amongst other things, I have been described as a flâneur, an aesthete and a philosopher. Depending on who you are, you'll either, then, think I'm interesting or a worthless idiot. You'd generally be in agreement with my fluctuating view of myself as well. If you know who Momus is (and my views of him generally concur with my view of myself), you'll probably understand why I've called this blog what it's called.

In actuality, I (finally) graduated (this summer) from UCL with a degree in Egyptian Archaeology, and am currently living in Cairo learning Arabic and attempting to write some papers on archaeological subjects. I'm also trying to work out what I really want to do in life, and attempting, once and for all, to kick some fairly problematic anxiety issues I've had in the past.

I enjoy writing: it's a usefully therapeutic activity and, sometimes, I appear to write quite well.

I don't believe in categorising myself, although I used to. I still tacitly admire others who do, but wish they wouldn't.

Yes, I have (some) money. No, I'm not going to apologise.

I have an unhealthy occasional obsession with railways.
